Rotten Eggs: Get Off My Land, Crazy Lawn Man

Hey!  This story sounds familar .. we have our own crazy lawn neighbors.

Sarah finally got me to the gym on Saturday.  Did 30 minutes on the bike.  It wasn’t too bad.  Listening to the MP3 player helps pass the time.  The legs felt pretty wobbly when i was done as you’d expect.  Got the heart rate up to 155 or so and sustained that for at least a few minutes.  At first i was trying to keep the RPMs at 60 or so but i slowed down to 45–50 as i tuckered out.

Skipped out today .. will try to do the exercise thing every other day.  Sarah’s a good motivator so i’m sure I’ll keep it up.

The legs are definitely a bit stiff today.

Ate at Olive Garden tonight.  Tomorrow i go back to restricting carbs quite a bit.  And drink water.  The water and getting up early enough to make breakfast were the two things i was lax at before.

Out

The snowfall was pretty much as bust (Sarah is happy about that).  We’ll have to wait for another day for large amounts of snow.

We are doing our annual tons of food trek today.  First to Sarah’s parents and her familys dinner around noon and then to mine.  So much food!

I made low-carb pumpkin pie to take.  Its not bad .. it may not make it :)

btw .. this was a picture from our trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  As we parked in the morning a bird landed on the mirror to greet us.  We figured it was all part of the Disney magic!

1.8 oz box dry leek soup mix (Knorr’s)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
16 oz container sour cream
3 Roma tomatoes, chopped fine
1/2 to 3/4 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled (to
taste)

Combine all ingredients and chill for at
least two hours. Serve with chips,
crackers, or raw veggies such as cauliflower
or cucumber slices.

1 cup finely chopped Vidalia onions
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
dash of Tabasco sauce
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
paprika, to taste

Preheat oven to 350? F. Mix onions,
mayonnaise, cheddar and Tabasco. Spread
into a small baking dish. Top with Parmesan
and sprinkle with paprika to taste.
Bake in preheated oven for about 30
minutes. Serve warm with assorted crackers.
This recipe doubles, triples, quadruples,
etc. very easily.

Note: if extra grease develops on top, it
can easily be blotted with paper towels.

Forget Libby’s recipe…
Bourbon, Pumpkin, and Spiced Pecan Tart
Pumpkin Praline Cheesecake

Its that time of year and i’m hankering for some pumpkin pie. Sensing that, the marketers over at Libby sent me a recipe via meals.com.

This recipe doesn’t use any sugar at all .. very basic. I’m going to try this this weekend.

Here’s some pumpkin info: Nutrition, cooking ideas (Libby product based) and interesting.

Wait a second .. i see the catch .. its a can thats pre-mixed with the sugar! I was almost fooled. Here is a sugar free version, here , here, here

Here is the traditional Libby pie.

I think Baja Fresh needs to not be a place to go eat very often. Too many calories unless i just get the salad .. and what’s the fun in that. I can get the salad at McDonalds.

The other meal i have problems with is chicken and hot sauce. I think my portions are just too big as the components aren’t really on the carb scale. I need to work on this meal as i really like it but i seem to gain each time i eat it.

I need to plan my menus like i did the week i started this stuff again. I think thats going to be the key as i’ve just been foraging lately with stuff that isn’t as good for me. I’ll get my next week menu worked out so i can get food later in the week.

And then there is the exercise … sigh … at least the palm is working with the MP3′s so i can ride the bike while i listen to leo. Life could be worse i suppose :)

I’ve got the camelbak water supply so i guess i need to utilize it at the exercise facility. And there was much rejoicing from Sarah.

Okay so its been a while. I”ve pretty much stayed on track with a couple of higher carb days in between. I lost 5 lbs the first week and 1 the next week (measuring every monday morning .. today being the 1 lb lost). That puts me at 277 which is close to my all time low. If i remember the lowest i hit was 274. The one thing i didn’t do last week is drink enough water. I’ve found that i don’t like the shops water as much. It is filtered but has a taste to it, like its too ionized or something. I’m pretty fond of the water out of our home so what i might do is get myself 3 containers to take to work and drink those. Maybe 2 for the work and one to drink at home.

Now i think i stayed reasonably in the 20 carb limit, tho i did go over on saturday with the mexican food. Another thing i had trouble with is sticking to the menu .. as in not making a new one for the 2nd week. It worked out pretty well the first week. I had the leftovers to eat the next days at work. I’ve picked out a menu for this week but haven’t been able to get to the store to buy the stuff. We’ll see how it goes.

I probably need to add exercise to the mix to help out .. sigh

Sunday

Breakfast: homemade breakfast bowl
Lunch: bacon-cheeseburger at O’Charlies
Dinner: Onion Soup

breakfast bowl: same as yesterday tho i microwaved the eggs this time .. looking for speed. The microwave egg poacher seemed to work fine with scrambled eggs. We did go out and get a couple of round egg molds to make circle scrambled egg patties to further support this breakfast meal.

Don’t worry on the O’Charlies burger .. ordered sans bun and a side of steam broccoli. How atkins compliant of me. I did eat one sugar laden walnut from Sarah’s meal.

I’ve defrosted some fish for dinner.

Update: I did defrost some cod for dinner … really! I had to run over to the parents to diagnose a CD-ROM and Mom, true to form, was handing out home cooking. I only had the onion soup, but it would have been nice to have the peach cobbler that was offered. The CD-ROM was dead so i replaced it with a spare that i had brought with me.

Saturday:

Breakfast: homemade breakfast bowl (sausage, egg, cheese)
Lunch: 2 turkey patties leftover from friday
Dinner: cashew chicken (not too bad, not really strong with flavor but better than straight chicken)

Had to get my butt to work because i was the only one covering the office. Its not so bad holding down the fort unless the phones go crazy. Thats when it gets really frustrating. Luckily (or unluckily) i wasn’t slammed.

Sarah left late this morning so she was there to remind me to take my leftovers for lunch. I could use that reminder service more often.

I think i’m all set up for turkey burgers tonight.

Breakfast: Hardees Low Carb bowl (i know, i know)
Lunch: leftover pork chop from wednesday
Dinner: herbed turkey burgers

A little bit better with the water. My goal is 2 liters at work and 1 at home. So far so good with work.
